Heterotopias
2024 – 2025
The Heterotopias, or Other Spaces series proposes the exploration of a liminal territory, suspended between the real and the imaginary, which contaminate each other. The title, inspired by the philosophical concept introduced by Michel Foucault, refers to real places that are at once “different”: spaces that exist in the world yet operate according to their own logic, autonomous and often in contrast with dominant social structures.
The worlds I present coexist and interfere in a fragile balance, generating places where the conventional rules of perception are suspended. They become buffer zones between past and present, between public and private, between familiar and unknown.
I construct these worlds within worlds through accumulation, by superimposing layers and elements that, through their visual density, attempt to lead the viewer into an experience of traversing territories that refuse fixed boundaries.
